2A Visit the Coal Loader Sustainability Centre Tunnel No1 (week 1) and identify constraints and opportunities. Ascertain ambient lighting levels, power sources and possible safety issues. Take measurements, make sketches and take photographs. Explore the class lighting storerooms in Bon Marche Level 5 rooms 13, 14, 15 and identify potentially useful lights, equipment, props and materials. Carry out background research into the Event Themes – Atmosphere, Light, Darkness, Wellbeing, Sustainability.
CONCEPT DESIGN
Bottled Earth is a luminaire using recycled plastic bottles and fibre optics to illustrate the effect of plastic waste on our environment, Global Warming and the overall sustainability of our Earth in the future. The fibre optic light show tells the story of Mother Earth from the calmer blue-greens to the red-orange frantic call for help and ultimately the dangerous reality of burning red. (1min loop)
